Meet Brian Chamness, the 33 year-old K-9 handler for the Perkins County Sheriff’s Office. Brian has been a Perkins County resident since May of 2015, when he and his wife Kristin moved here to Grant.
It was the job opportunity that brought the Chamness family here from Kearney, but Brian said he and his wife also wanted to raise their children in a smaller community with a slower-paced lifestyle.
The couple has two children, their daughter Baya is 6, and their son Bode is 3. They also have a Yorki named Remi.
The Chamness family has enjoyed the friendships they’ve built here in Perkins County. “We love that our kids can feel safe playing out in the neighborhood and that our neighbors look out for one another,” Brian said.
Brian has been an officer for about 12 years, and chose this profession because of the new  and different challenges each day presents. “I like that I get to be there for the community that I live in,” Chamness said.
