Library books to be available at health care clinics

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following article explores literacy in the community, one of the three focuses of the new literacy initiative at the library. See previous issues for a more in-depth look at literacy in the library and literacy in the community. 

The third focal point of Hastings Memorial Library’s new Early Childhood Literacy Initiative is developing literacy in the community. 

“Our main goal with these new literacy programs and services is to educate families on the importance of literacy, particularly in the early years of a child’s life,” said Library Director Robin Quinn. “We want people to know that resources and information are available to help. Literacy is so simple to add to your everyday life, and can make a huge difference to a child’s future.”
