Memorial Day services set

Services for Memorial Day in Perkins County and Wallace have been set for Monday, May 29 to honor local fallen military on the annual day of remembrance.

GRANT

Fairview Cemetery southwest of Grant will again be the site for this year’s Legion Post 40’s service at 10 a.m. The speaker for this year’s service will be Stephanie Larson. 

MADRID

Madrid Legion Post 271 will host its annual pancake feed again at this year’s Memorial Day service 6:30-8 a.m. at the legion hall.

Services for Memorial Day will be at the Madrid Cemetery at 9 a.m. The guest speaker for the event will be Ryan Boldt.

Coffee and rolls will be served by the Legion Auxiliary at the legion hall following the service.

ELSIE

The Elsie Legion Post 206 Memorial Day service is once again set for 10 a.m. Monday at the Elsie Cemetery east of Elsie.

Giving remarks at this year’s service will be Steve Hanson.

VENANGO

Dennis Conner will speak at this year’s service in Venango for the Venango Legion Post 270.

The event will start at 10:30 a.m. and be held at the Venango Cemetery.

Coffee and cookies will be served by Legion Auxiliary at the legion hall following the service.

WALLACE

The Wallace American Legion Post 213’s Memorial Day service will begin at 10:30 a.m. C.T. at the Wallace cemetery. Speaker will be Emma Matson, co-valedictorian at Wallace High School. Also performing will be the Wallace School Choir under the direction of Ella Jameson. 

A hamburger and hot dog feed will immediately follow the event at the legion hall.

Also available during this time will be memorial bricks for sale to raise money for the Legion Auxiliary’s new veteran’s memorial. Free-will donations will also be accepted.
