The City of Grant has worked diligently from the beginning of the year with its nuisance abatement team at West Central Nebraska Development District (WCNDD) in Ogallala to clean up properties within the city, according to City Superintendent Edward Dunn.

For now, the city is on hold with issuing any more nuisance declarations, he said.

“We are not doing any more nuisance until the nuisances are cleared on our outstanding nuisance properties,” he said.

Five properties within the city limits of Grant have a nuisance declaration on them. These are 700 Central Ave., 740 Central Ave., 149 Washington Ave., 143 Washington Ave., and 428 East Hwy 23.

Dunn said all five properties have been granted an extension at some point during the process of their nuisance declaration, which began in May 2021.

Two of the properties, 700 Central Ave., and 740 Central Ave., had until August 12 to clear all nuisances and will be considered for

abatement/recension at the August 23 regular City Council Meeting, Dunn said.

The properties at 149 Washington Ave., 143 Washington Ave., and 428 East Hwy 23 have until September 1 to clear all nuisances or they will be considered for abatement/recension at the September 13 regular City Council Meeting, he said.
