Perkins County residents eligible for zero interest forgivable loans to renovate homes

Owner Occupied Rehabilitation application period opens May 24

Southwest Nebraska Community Betterment Corporation (SWNCBC) has received “Release of Funds” from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (NDED) for a Perkins County Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Grant.
SWNCBC is leading an effort to provide some needed renovation to homes within the incorporated communities of Perkins County, using the funding provided by NDED.
The housing program, referred to as Owner Occupied Rehab (OOR), provides families living at a moderate to low income level who own their homes, a financial resource to complete renovation work such as new windows, doors, siding, roofing, heating systems and insulation.
As long as the homeowner’s income falls at or below 100 percent of the area median income they would be eligible for a “forgivable loan” at 0 percent interest, with no repayment necessary as long as the family maintains the property as their primary residence for 10 years.
SWNCBC will be opening a 30-day application period beginning May 24 and ending June 23. Applications received in their office or postmarked after June 23 will not be eligible.
The Perkins County OOR program criteria include, but are not limited to: 1) applicant’s income eligibility; 2) proof of ownership; and 3) home eligibility.
SWNCBC will be running the program in the incorporated communities of Perkins County where eight homes will be rehabilitated.
Please submit applications to the SWNCBC office during the 30-day application period to be considered for the program.
For an application please call 308-352-4338, stop by the SWNCBC office at 115 W. 3rd Street in Grant, or visit www.southwestne.com.
For more information contact Amy Thelander or Deb Marshall at 308-352-4338.
SWNCBC is an Equal Opportunity Housing Provider.
