School board and City Council both contested races in Perkins County this election
The General Election is coming on November 5, 2024 and aside from state and national topics and a heated presidential election, Perkins County residents will have a few local issues to vote on as well.
Commissioner for District 1, City Council, Perkins County School Board and the Village of Elsie are the local issues on the 2024 ballot.
Mail out ballots will be sent on September 30, with in office voting held October 7 – November 4, according to County Clerk Rita Long. Deadline for registering to vote is October 25 in office 6 p.m.
CANDIDATE FILINGS
City of Grant City Council and County Commissioner deadlines for filing were February 15 for incumbents and March 1 for new candidates.
July 15 was the deadline for village filings for incumbents, new candidates was August 1.
Commissioner #1: The Republican candidate for District #1 commissioner is new candidate Darin Robertson.
City Council: The City of Grant City Council race will fill two seats, and two incumbents will be on the ballot, Samuel Sims and Kimberly Bishop. Jennifer Tatum is a new candidate for this race.
School Board: The Perkins County School board will fill three seats. New candidates on the ballot are Jason Noyes and Mitchell Bottom, joining incumbents Jayson Bishop and Holly Cornelius.
Village of Elsie: The Village of Elsie Board has three seats up, and three incumbents have filed; Tami Cook, Chris Flaming and Lynn Cook.
