Soup Supper Take Away Appreciation Event a success

The Perkins County Health Services Foundation coordinated a Soup Supper Take-Away appreciation meal for our healthcare community on Wednesday, February 7th. Over 200 soup meals were served at the hospital.

Around 20 crockpots of soups were provided, along with dozens of cookies and bars generously donated by members of the Lions Club (Ashley Colglazier, Marilyn & Leon Regier, Trent Patrick, Macakade Skinner, Danielle Koenig, Kelly Lee, Chesley Tines, Heidi Klahn, Raymond Beisner and Rendale Meyer). Jeanie Daiss, Deb Hansen, Toni Wyatt, and Lynda Hilferty also helped with providing desserts.

Each meal included a serving of the soup of their choice, a bread roll, and dessert. Our healthcare workers took home as many meals as they needed to feed their entire family.

As part of the fun, judges were asked to taste test the four distinct categories of soups and pick a favorite. Volunteers provided soups in one of these categories: chili, beef based, chicken based, or creamy/other. Three judges for each category tasted the soups and selected their favorite. Winners included Jeff & Wendy Skeels with Butternut Squash soup, Todd & Shana Kraus with “Hearty Cowboy” beef soup, Candy & Raul Hiser-Bazan with Chicken Noodle soup, and Ben & Tawna Holmstedt with Chili.

The entire healthcare community is working hard to keep us safe while caring for our everyday medical needs. The soup take-away was a fun and small way to say thanks to our PCHS employees, and it was a great night for a soup supper!
