Summer storm tears through Perkins County

In the late afternoon on Sunday, July 1, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Perkins County, with an expectation of up to quarter-size hail, as well as wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour. High winds caused the electricity to go out just before 7 p.m. Midwest Electric was able to get the power restored within an hour and said there was no major damage to their equipment. There were no reports of hail but 0.46 inches of moisture was reported in Madrid and high gusts of wind managed to do some damage around town. Above is the fence at the park just after the storm, and below is a tree branch still laying in the street Monday morning.
