SWNCB Corporation needs input on housing grants

Southwest Nebraska Community Betterment Corporation (SWNCBC), a non-profit, 501©3 organization located in Grant, Nebraska is continuing their efforts to provide affordable housing development for southwest Nebraska. SWNCBC is currently applying for a New Construction Housing and an Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Grant, through the Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund program offered by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. To do this, they are seeking community input on the grants as to the importance of this funding in our communities

SWNCBC is applying for NAHTF funding to build one new home within the incorporated city limits of Grant, Nebraska.

This New Construction Grant will provide funding to place one site built home on a city lot that has existing infrastructure.

The home will be 1,500 sq. ft. with three-bedrooms, two-bathrooms, set on a basement foundation and includes a two car garage. The selling price of the home is estimated to be $200,000-240,000 with SWNCBC offering up to $20,000 in Down Payment/Closing Cost (DPA) assistance to qualified buyers.

SWNCBC is also applying for funding for Owner Occupied Rehab within the incorporated communities of Perkins, Chase, Dundy, Hitchcock and Hayes Counties counties. These funds, if awarded, will be used to complete renovation work, such as new windows, doors, siding, roofing, heating systems and insulation, up to $40,000, to qualified homeowners. The dollar amount of assistance is a “forgivable loan” with no repayment necessary as long as the families maintain the property as their primary residence for the next 10 years.

All comments can be submitted by email to swncbc@gpcom.net or on SWNCBC’s Facebook page. For any questions call SWNCBC at 308-352-4338.
