A water main break occurred within the City of Grant on Saturday, Aug. 13, just east of the water tower according to City Superintendent Edward Dunn.

The  break took place where new, larger pipe, is being laid to replace smaller, outdated water main, Dunn said.

The break happened sometime in the late afternoon hours of August 13, with the city immediately getting an alarm of low water pressure. City employees were able to find the break and stop the leak, Dunn said.

As a precaution, the water system in Grant was chlorinated and testing was completed. All testing has been within the normal range to date, with no contaminants being detected in the City’s water supply, Dunn said Monday.

Those with any questions concerning the  break or the chlorination process can call the city at 352-2100.
