Perkins County speakers second at SPVA

Hershey High School hosted the SPVA Speech Meet on Monday, March 6. Competitors from Perkins County, Bridgeport, Chase County, Hershey, Kimball, St. Pat’s and Sutherland met for a contest of two preliminary rounds which then sent the top six competitors to a final round critiqued by two judges.

PCHS speakers earned second place team honors. Sutherland took first place and Kimball came in third.

Contestants from Perkins County and their finals placements included: Informative: James McArtor first, Haven Wid third. Persuasive: Sam McArtor sixth, Katie Patrick. Entertainment: Bryce Grothman second, Peyton Woodmancy sixth. Extemporaneous: Andrea Winkel second, Matthew Wendell fifth. Poetry: Hailee Iske-Fraizer fourth, Kadie Hanson. Humorous Prose: Jacob Woodmancy fourth, Beau Wood. Serious Prose: Bella Fraizer fourth, Karen Ruiz. Duet Acting: Colton Heinemann and Hailee Iske Fraizer fourth, Chris Terry and Kanyon Gaar. Oral Interp of Drama: Colton Heinemann, Chris Terry, Bryce Grothman and Kenyon Gaar first; Ian Sihm, Sam McArtor, Matthew Wendell, Jacob Woodmancy and Keshia Leeper fifth.

District C2-6 competition was held in North Platte at NPHS on Tuesday, March 14. Results will appear in a future issue of the Tribune.
