Perkins County Fair next week

Something old, something new, forever red, white and blue; the theme for this year’s Perkins County Fair will have residents showing their patriotism July 17-22.
Monday, July 17
Registration for the 4-H dog show begins at 8:30 a.m. with the show beginning at 9 a.m.
Tuesday, July 18
The annual 4-H horse show registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the participants displaying their riding talents at 9 a.m.
Wednesday, July 19
From 9-11 a.m., 4-H static and open class entries will be accepted in the exhibit building.
The small animal and rabbit show begins at 11 a.m.
Check-in for livestock is 5-7 p.m.
Thursday, July 20
The week starts to get busy on Thursday, starting with
the annual free pancake feed at 6 a.m. sponsored by the Perkins County Chamber.
At 8 a.m. the 4-H swine, sheep, goat and shows begin. Livestock photos will be taken in the show ring following the show.
Open class floral entries will be accepted from 8 a.m. to noon.
The rocket launch takes place at 1 p.m. at the ball field.
2 p.m. marks the poultry show, with photos in the show ring following.
All ages can enjoy an inflatable carnival from 5-10 p.m. Admission to the carnival on opening night is two items to benefit the food pantry.
The kiddie carnival is back this year in the commercial building from 6-8 p.m., sponsored by Perkins County Community Foundation Fund.
The 4-H style review will be held at 5:30.
4-H bingo is scheduled from
6-9p.m.
A new event to the fair this year is Fun Pianos: Dueling Pianos from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Friday, July 21
8 a.m. marks the annual 4-H beef show with photos following.
The exhibit building opens at 10 a.m.
Friday afternoon/evening is filled with activities for youth:
Noon: kids races/sidewalk chalk at Grant City Park
1 p.m.: livestock obstacle course
2 p.m.: livestock round robin sponsored by Mid America 3 p.m.: tractor pedal pull
5 p.m.: McClain’s Mutton Bustin’
5-10 p.m.: inflatable carnival
6-8 p.m.: kiddie carnival
The 4-H Teens will host bingo from 6-9 p.m.
The tough truck competition begins at 6:30 p.m.
From 8 p.m. to midnight, McKenzie JaLynn Band will perform, with a beer garden available.
Saturday, July 22
10 a.m. is the time set for the parade to begin at the north end of Grant City Park. Come to table on the south side of park for entry number.
The annual barbecue by the 4-H teens is from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the fairgrounds.
Awards for 4-H will be presented in the dance hall at 1:30 p.m. with silent auction results following.
The inflatable carnival will be open from 2-10 p.m.
There will be a 2:45 p.m. fair board awards presentation.
3 p.m. marks the start of the 4-H livestock sale, which is an hour earlier than previous years. The sale starts with beef.
The kiddie carnival will be open from 5-7 p.m.
3-8 p.m. is reserved for Ladies’ Night.
6:30 p.m. is set aside for the annual derby hosted by Ride Rite Garage.
Bingo is from 6-9 p.m.
Closing out the fair will be a teen dance from 9 p.m. to midnight.
