Coats opens new auto shop in Grant

Local resident, Corey Coats, is putting his mechanic skills to work in Grant with the opening of his new business, Coats Auto & Diesel. 

The shop, which officially opened for business Oct. 23, is located at 1101 Central Ave.

The new business will offer a range of services including diagnostics, diesel repair, preventative maintenance, engine and transmission replacement and more. 

“Pretty much everything,” as Coats puts it. 

Coats’ mechanic training started at a young age at his childhood home in South Dakota. His father served as a mechanic in the military and did the work needed on the family’s ranch himself, teaching his son along the way.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Coats joined the Army after high school where he too served as a mechanic for three years. 

In 2003, the combat veteran and his wife, Michele, moved the Grant. The couple has four children; Brandon, Bryce, Tyler and Rylee.

“I think Grant’s just an awesome town. I had family here, I was outta the service and I fell in love with Grant. It’s a great place to raise a family,” said Coats.
