The 3-on-3 basketball tournament will begin at 10 a.m.
The fun run crew will be serving lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. An All-American meal is planned that will include a hot dog, chips and baked beans. Coney or Chicago-style dogs will also be offered. See ad on page 3 for more information.
Bounce houses and concessions will also be open from noon to 5 p.m. Bounce houses are sponsored by Adams Bank & Trust.
The Ride Rite Garage Car Show will be held at the park beginning at noon, with the 2018 Mid-Plains Community College raffle car, a 1932 Ford Roadster, scheduled to be in attendance.

Also beginning at 1 p.m. will be the horseshoe tournament hosted by Great Plains Communications and free swimming at the Grant Municipal Pool. With the high for the day expected to reach 89 degrees, swimmers can cool off until free swimming ends at 5 p.m.
Judging for the rib cookoff will be at 2 p.m., and sand volleyball will begin at 3 p.m. Both events are sponsored by First Insight Eyecare.
Music and announcements throughout the day will be provided by Matthew Chandler-Smith of Orpheus Music & Sound.
The celebration is organized by The Perkins County Chamber of Commerce.
Firework funding
The annual fireworks display will conclude the day at 9:30 p.m. at the Perkins County Fairgrounds. The show is presented by the Grant Volunteer Fire Department and funded by the Perkins County Chamber and public donations.
The budget for this year’s show was $8,000, and donations have reached $4,335.
The community is encouraged to contribute to the funding of the show and there are several options for donating.
A “fill the boot” style collection has been added this year, with boot locations at the cheerleaders’ fireworks stand all week, and at the pool.
Another fun way to donate to the show is to participate in a 50/50 raffle sponsored by HomeTown Agency.
The Grant location will sell tickets on July 2 and 3, and HomeTown representative Tiffany Long will be selling tickets at the park on July 4.
Proceeds from the raffle will go 50 percent to the winner, with the other half going towards the show.
Donations can still be made at any time at any bank in Grant and The Barber Pole.
