Harvest the fun at Wallace Fall Festival

Though the golf tournament was held last weekend, the Wallace Fall Festival is just getting started. This weekend is jam packed with fun events and activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Saturday

Kicking things off on Saturday, Sept. 15, is the Wallace Fire Department, who is set to host a pancake and sausage free-will donation breakfast from 7-9 a.m. CT.

Boy Scout Troop 265 will have a Big Foot Escape challenge set up from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Groups wishing to participate can get an appointment time by emailing scoutcamperescape@yahoo.com.

A fun run is set to begin in front of 360 Fitness Center at 7:30 a.m., and a craft show and bake sale will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the American Legion Hall. 

The parade will take place at 10 a.m. where the Grand Marshal, Old Scout and Good Neighbor awards will be given. The winner of the paint your bale contest will also be announced. 

Kiddos can meet at the parade stand on Main Street for the kids races and toad and turtle races right after the parade. 

Also after the parade at the fire hall, the wheel of fire and silent auction will be open until 4 p.m, and open until 3 p.m. will be a quilt show and book sale at the library.

Just south of the park, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., a tractor pull will be held.

The calcutta for team sorting will begin at 1 p.m., an hour before the main event, which takes place east of Mac’s Super Foods.

The kids will surely enjoy Fun Jumpz and kid games at the park from 1-3 p.m., along with Dusty Trails Petting  Zoo from 1-4 p.m., west of Mac’s Super Foods, who sponsored the attraction. 

Both starting at 1 p.m. are a fun rodeo at the roping arena and a dunk tank on Main Street. 

Baseball fans and players alike can head over to the baseball field at 2 p.m. for the baseball derby that will be followed by a coed softball game. 

For the art lovers, a melodrama is planned at the community hall from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

T’s Bar and Grill Beer Garden and La Pachanga Mexican food will both be available on Main Street from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. 

Dancers can hit the street dance on Main Street featuring Ray’s Classic Country from 5-8 p.m. 

A chili cook off benefit will be held from 5:15-7 p.m. with proceeds to go towards Gianna Slaymaker, who has been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma cancer and taking chemo treatments in Omaha every three weeks. She is the daughter of Brad and Heather Slaymaker. 

At 5:30 p.m., a tractor rodeo will take place on Main Street. 

Weather permitting, Tri-State G&T and Midwest Electric, are sponsoring hot air balloon rides at the airport. 

A teen dance is planned for sixth through 12th graders at the community hall, and the Innocent Mischief band will be the spotlight at the last street dance and final event of the day. 

Sunday

On Sunday, a double elimination volleyball tournament will be played in the Wallace school gym. 

The Wallace Hotel Diner is hosting coffee and muffin fellowship from 10:30-11 a.m., before the community wide church service is held at the parade stand at 11 a.m.

The final event of the fall festival begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the roping arena, a team roping rodeo.
