Kiss-the-pig, 3-point shooting part of Pink Out game events in Imperial

It’s anticipated to be a night of fun, and also some important fundraising, as Chase County hosts this year’s Pink Out games Thursday, Jan. 10.

Perkins County High School will be in Imperial for the varsity games, when the girls’ team will don pink and white uniforms, and both boys’ and girls’ varsity teams will wear special Pink Out warm-up shirts for their games.

But, according to Imperial FFA Advisor Jason Speck, there will be a lot of other activities that night as the FFA chapters from both schools work to raise funds for cancer patients.

Fans will have two halftime events next week to help raise funds, Speck said.

At the girls’ game halftime, fans can try for a 3-point basket for $1 per shot, Speck said. Winners hitting the trey will win a prize.

At halftime of the boys’ game, the fun intensifies with a kiss-the-pig contest. 

Competing for the honors to kiss the pig for Perkins County will be Senior Tanner Burge and Activities Director Jeremy Struckman. 

For Chase County, CCS Asst. Girls’ Basketball Coach and teacher Jeff Gleisberg, 7-12 Principal Jon Lechtenberg and CCS junior Devin O’Brien will be vying for the honors.

Fans attending will also have the opportunity to purchase the annual Pink Out T-shirt for $12.

Speck said funds raised from the halftime events, T-shirt sales and sponsorships will be donated to the cancer fund at Chase County Community Hospital, which aids local cancer patients with the costs of treatment.
