Perkins County speech team finishes fourth at Blue & Gold

Out of the 32 teams that were invited and participated in the North Platte Blue & Gold speech meet on Saturday, Feb. 15, Perkins County managed to place fourth with 120 points.
The speakers were divided into varsity (experienced) and novice (first year) groups.
Perkins County had seven novice events and 21 varsity events compete on Saturday. 11 of those 28 total events earned medals.
Coach Penny Hite said the team did so well on Saturday, and noted it was an All-Class meet that took the top 12 varsity speakers and top six novice speakers to finals.
The team will next compete in Ogallala on Saturday, Feb. 22 before having a weekend off from competitions.
