Take the kids on a bear hunt!

With communities adhering to social-distancing guidelines, a new family activity has popped up across the country: bear hunting!

Drawing inspiration from Michael Rosen’s children’s book “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt,” people have started posing teddy bears in their windows as a scavenger hunt activity for children and families.

The trend appears to have started in Tennessee and has spread through social media and word of mouth and has now reached Grant.

Bear hunting keeps the family safe and isolated as they drive around town spying for stuffed animals. It is a great way to get out of the house without putting family members at risk of contracting COVID-19.

The idea is to place a teddy bear or other stuffed animal in a window facing the street so families can go on a mission to seek them out. Anyone can participate!

Several homes in Grant are participating by setting stuffed bears in their windows, and families can be seen slowly touring town in search of the cute critters.

When communities work together to keep the air light in spite of tense circumstances surrounding social distancing and personal safety lately, it can bring a new light to a somewhat dark situation.
