Lady Plainsmen suffer losses at Wauneta

The Lady Plainsmen fell to both Wauneta-Palisade and Garden County in a triangular at Wauneta last Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Coach Monica Cole said the triangular was a struggle for the team, but she can’t put her finger on what the problem was.

Against Garden County, the girls played two sets, and lost in both, 25-8 and 25-7.

They also played just two sets against Wauneta-Palisade, where they fell to their opponents 25-11 and 25-14.

These games left the girls’ record 12-8.

A game against Chase County was scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8, but it was announced Wednesday evening that both jayvee and varsity games were cancelled.

Hershey pulled out of the triangular with Dundy County-Stratton on Tuesday, Oct. 13, but games between DCS and Perkins County continued.

Cole said the girls were ready to fire back Tuesday against DCS.

SPVA Tournament

Perkins County will next play in the upcoming SPVA tournament set for Saturday, Oct. 17 at Perkins County High School.

Perkins County is the fourth seed in the tournament, so they will first face Chase County, who is the fifth seed. The game will begin at 10 a.m. in the main gym.

The winner between the Lady Plainsmen and the Longhorns will move on to play North Platte St. Pat’s, who is the top seed.

“We’ve been looking forward to this weekend for a while now!” Cole said. “We have a lot of practice time at the end of the season, so we are just trying to continually fine tune things and keep the girls geared up for the big games coming up.”
