Lucille Foster

Lucille Catherine Foster, 85, longtime Brandon resident, passed away February 1, 2021, at the Sutherland Care Center.

Lucille was born August 10, 1935, to Ed and Vera (Kosinski) Knebel in Julesburg, Colorado. She attended rural grade school in Perkins County and graduated from Ogallala High School with the class of 1953. 

Lucille attended the University of Wyoming and later McCook Junior College. After college, she worked at McCook City Schools before working at the University of Colorado Medical Center at Denver. 

In 1964, Lucille married Rex Foster at Brandon, Nebraska, where they made their home. Their union was blessed with two children, Thomas Edward Foster, and Catherine Marie Foster.

Lucille worked as a bookkeeper at Fidler Plumbing in Grant, and later, Scoular Grain in Brandon and Venango. 

She served on the Perkins County Extension Board, Perkins County Foundation Board, and Hospital Board. Lucille was a member of the Venango Community Church and served as a Deaconess and Sunday School Secretary.

Lucille was in preceded in death by her parents and husband Rex Foster.

Lucille is survived by her children Tom and his wife Val, of Brandon, Catherine and her husband, Craig Brockmeier of Grand Island; grandchildren, Lila, Hayden, and Nolan Foster, Erin and Gage Brockmeier; along with many other relatives and friends. 

Memorials are suggested to the Venango Volunteer Fire Department in Lucille’s memory. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com. 

Services were on Friday, February 5, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the Venango Community Church, with Pastor Chris Costrini officiating. 

Interment was to be in the Grant Fairview Cemetery. 

Visitation was on Thursday, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant is in charge of arrangements.
