2-fer alumni banquets planned

Last year’s alumni banquets for schools in Perkins County never happened—thanks to COVID-19. 

Alumni committees are full steam ahead for this year’s banquets for graduates from last year and this year’s honor classes. 

Graduates with years ending in “0” and “1” will celebrate their alumni banquets together. 

Madrid, Elsie, Wheatland

Alumni of Madrid, Elsie and Wheatland will gather Saturday, May 29 in Paxton at the banquet room above Ole’s and Swede’s. 

Social time begins at 5 p.m. MT with class pictures at 5:30 p.m. followed by the dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets can be reserved by contacting Alumni Coordinator Michelle Ross at 308-882-8469. Tickets are $25 each with payment at the door.  

Grant, Perkins County

This year’s alumni banquet for Grant and Perkins County graduates will be held on Saturday, June 5 in the Pritchett Gym at the Perkins County Schools. 

Committee member Ashleigh Noyes said the committee tried to change things up with a new date. In the past, the banquet has been held on Father’s Day weekend. 

She said the new date is getting mixed reviews but it does allow is more time for families on Father’s Day weekend. 

Class photos and social time will begin at 5 p.m. with the dinner and program to begin at 6 p.m.

Coach Larry Pritchett will be honored at the banquet and the committee hopes players from his 1990 state championship team can attend.

The state championship team of 1981 is also gathering that weekend. 

Tickets for the banquet are $25 and can be purchased in Grant at Noyes Irrigation, HomeTown Agency, Pinnacle Bank, Arnold Insurance and the Grant library before May 28.

Noyes said out-of-town people wanting to attend can reserve tickets by calling her at 308-352-8316.

Noyes is joined on the committee by Leslie Burge, Ellie McCormick, Lindsey Cunningham and Robin Quinn.
