Garage sales aplenty

Got junk? Want junk? Well the next few weekends in the area will be full of good deals far and wide.  

The Village of Venango will host their sales this weekend, reporting that over a dozen sales will take place this Saturday, May 29 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Grant’s annual city-wide garage sales will take place next Saturday, June 5 starting at 8 a.m. 

Dawnya Dreiling, treasurer of the Perkins County Chamber of Commerce, said the annual community staple is shaping up to be a big event. 

Community members have until Friday, May 28 to contact the Dreiling at 308-352-4390 to be placed on the map. 

As of now, 17 garage sales on this year’s map, which will be available at In & Out, Kwik Stop and in front of the Grant Tribune the day of the sale. 

Sponsored by the chamber, Dreiling emphasized that the goal of the event is to “bring people to town. This is a huge benefit to the businesses that are open on that day, and they will have extra traffic in their stores.”

Coinciding with the city wide garage sales, the New Life Church will host a sale on that Saturday, with everything from clothing to furniture being sold to benefit their quest to purchase new carpet for the church. 

Brule will host their community wide garage sales on Saturday, June 12 from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m., with maps being distributed at Wiest Hardware and breakfast and lunch served in the park.
