PC fair kicks off next week

Sawyer Brown tickets still available

A week of “Country Nights and Carnival Lights” begins this coming Monday with the first event of the Perkins County Fair.

The activity-filled fair week begins Monday with the 4-H horse show at 8 a.m. and closes on Saturday the 24 with the much anticipated Sawyer Brown concert.

The schedule is full of something for everyone; from 4-H animal shows, to bounce houses, to bingo -— and a crowd favorite, the parade.

Thursday night’s entertainment is brought by the Perkins County FFA who will host “Farm Olympics” complete with a kids penny scramble, followed by some good old fashion karaoke.

Bounce houses, putt-putt golf and bingo will be available from Thursday - Saturday.

Following the beef show and tractor pull, a ranch rodeo will be held on Friday evening, in memory of Grady Robinson. Youth are invited to participate in the mutton bustin during the ranch rodeo.

The Perkins County Fair Board will host a beer garden on Friday and Saturday night.

Saturday starts with the parade which will take a different route this year. Registration will be on the south side of the park, with line up starting on the north side as has been in the past.

The parade will head down Central Avenue and then head west on  3rd St. The route then turns south onto Lincoln and then west on 2nd St. making the front and south lawn of the courthouse a prime spot to view floats. Finally, the parade will turn north onto Garfield and emcee Matt Chandler Smith will be in the courthouse parking lot announcing the entries as the parade ends on 3rd and Garfield.

The changes to the parade route are due to concert set up  beginning Saturday morning for Sawyer Brown.

Whiskey Bent, no strangers to performing in Perkins County, will return to open for Sawyer Brown on Saturday night.

Tickets for the concert can still be purchased from outhouse tickets by visiting the fair website www.perkinscountyfairgrounds.com and clicking on “buy Sawyer Brown Tickets.
