Wallace Fall Festival set for Sept. 18, 19
The Wallace Fall Festival kicks off Saturday morning, Sept. 18, with this year’s theme being ‘The Colors of Fall.”
The Festival will run all day Saturday, and will continue into Sunday afternoon, Sept. 19. All event times appear in CT.
Saturday
From 7-9 a.m. Saturday morning, pancakes and sausage will be available at the Wallace Fire Hall with a free will donation.
The 5K run/walk will start at 7:30 a.m. in front of Wallace School. There is a $25 entry fee to participate in the 5K. Contact Madisen Messersmith at 737-0834 or Rachel Hanson at 402-660-8938 to sign up.
Starting at 8 a.m. and continuing till 3 p.m. is the craft show and bake sale at the American Legion Hall. There is a $10 table fee. Contact Jim Smith at 530-4855 to sign up.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and those interested in participating must sign up at the bank prior to Saturday. Grand Marshall, Old Scout and Good Neighbor awards, as well as the Paint Your Bale winner will be presented at the parade. Those active in the parade will line up at the airport at 9 a.m.
After the parade, kids races and toad and turtle races will begin on Main St. at the parade stand. Participants must bring their own toad and turtle to race. Contact Mandy Einspahr at 530-8740.
Also after the parade will be the Junior Class Labor Auction at the parade stand on Main Street, Wheel of Fire and the silent auction at the Fire Hall and the quilt show and book sale at the library. From 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. pulled pork and hot dogs will be available for free will donations at the Community Hall. Entertainment is sponsored by the Lions Club.
The Truck and Antique Tractor Pull put on by Platte Valley Truck and Tractor Pullers will begin at 12 p.m. south of the park. Contact Trevor Lehman at 340-3199 with any questions.
From 12:30-1:30 p.m. there will be kids games in the park. Fun Jumpz will also be available at the park from 1-3 p.m.
Dusty Trails Petting Zoo will be set up west of Mac’s Super Foods between 1-4 p.m.
At 1 p.m., rodeo fun events will begin in the roping arena. Brian Holm can be reached at 530-3068 to answer questions regarding the rodeo events.
Two events will begin at 4 p.m.: the softball game and T’s Bar & Grill Beer Garden and Corn Hole Tournament.
The softball tournament will be at the baseball field, and Eric Miller can be reached at 390-2894 with questions. The Beer Garden and Corn Hole Tournament will be located on Main Street, with Braxton BBQ food available. Contact Tracy Tyan at 539-4628.
Starting at 5:30 p.m. is the chili cook off at the Community Hall/Wallace Community Church. The cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children age 4-10. Krystle Friesen can be reached regarding the cook off at 387-4204.
Also beginning at 5:30 p.m. is the tractor rodeo on Main Street. Contact Conrad Nelson with questions at 539-1847.
From 7 p.m.-12:30 a.m., the street dance will be held on Main Street. The James Lee Band will be providing music.
The final event of Saturday’s Fall Festival schedule is the family movie at the baseball fields. The movie will start at 8:30 p.m.
Sunday
The second day of the Wallace Fall Festival kicks off at 8 a.m. with the Double Elimination Volleyball Tournament at the school gym. Contact Madisen Messersmith with any inquiries.
From 10:30-11 a.m. there will be a coffee and muffin fellowship held by Wallace Churches and the Wallace Hotel. The fellowship and refreshments will be at the Wallace Hotel Diner.
A community-wide lunch will be served at the Legion Hall with a free will donation starting at 12 p.m. The lunch will be sponsored by the Wallace Junior Class.
