PCHS, Hatch’s team up for Christmas meal boxes
This year marks the fifth year Perkins County Health Services and Hatch’s Super Foods have teamed up to help provide traditional Christmas meals for those in need during the holidays, something Val Hochstein of Hatch’s feels has positively benefitted the community over the years.
They will be putting together 26 boxes this year, which will include a ham, a gallon of milk, dinner rolls, stuffing, pie, whipped topping and ingredients for green bean casserole and candied yams.
As they have done in the past, PCHS will be donating hams, and Hatch’s is donating the milk.
PCHS Dietitian Shana Kraus will be providing recipe cards to include in the boxes which feature both oven and microwave cooking instructions.
Suggestions and recipes for leftovers are also included.
The remaining cost for ingredients totals approximately $25 per box, specifically $24.78.
Those interested in contributing to the remaining cost of boxes can donate to Hatch’s.
Proceeds donated beyond the cost of meal boxes will be given to the food pantry this year.
Donations will be accepted until Friday, Dec. 17, when the boxes are brought to the Perkins County Ministerial Association who will distribute them along with angel tree gifts throughout the day.
