Two more candidates file before deadline

Jay Lee to file as write-in

Two new candidate filings were received at the Perkins County Clerk’s office before the 5 p.m. March 1 filing deadline. These were Melissa K. Wilson for Perkins County Hospital Board and Kevin D. Klahn for Village of Madrid Board.
The following is a complete list of all filings for the primary election scheduled for May 10, (I) indicates incumbents.

Long (I); Sheriff: James Brueggeman (I); Treasurer: Julie A. Sestak (I); Perkins County Hospital Board (3): Jeffery D. Skeels (I), Lissa L. Schroder, Victoria Gengenbach, Janet Lagler, Marcia L. Shalla, Melissa K. Wilson; City of Grant: Mayor: Lisa Schmitt (I); City Council (2): Andrea Brueggeman (I), Tierney L. Petersen (I); Perkins County School Board (3): Chris Fryzek (I), Angela Gloy (I), Cameron Sis; Villages: Elsie Village Board (2): no filings; Madrid Village Board (2): Jennifer Baumgartner, Kevin D. Klahn; Venango Village Board (3): no filings.
Village board candidates have a deadline of July 15 for incumbents and Aug 1 for non-incumbents.
DIST. 44 SENATOR SEAT
 Ed Dunn of Grant and Teresa J. Ibach of Sumner were the only two candidates to file for the Dist. 44 State Senator seat to replace Sen. Dan Hughes of Venango, who is serving his final year. Hughes could not run again due to term limits.

SUBDISTRICT 10 NRD
Despite missing the February 15 filing deadline, incumbent Jay L. Lee of Madrid said he intends to file as a write-in candidate for Subdistrict 10 of the Upper Republican NRD board of directors. However, as of press time, his name had not been registered at the Nebraska Secretary of State’s office.
