NE SCB candidate presents stance on issues while in Grant
A meeting at Grant’s Zion Lutheran Church on September 8, brought people from at least three counties to hear conservative candidate Elizabeth Tegtmeier of North Platte who is running for the District 7 seat on the State School Board. Tegtmeier, who handily won the district’s primary, is not slowing down her campaign. She has currently covered 126,000 miles in her 44 county district.
Tegtmeier had considerable support at the meeting, which was organized by Perkins County GOP members Melissa Sauder and Edward Dunn.
Matt Innis of Lincoln, who was a sought after speaker last year with his program on the dangers of CRT and comprehensive sexual education, also gave an updated version of that program during the evening and emphasized how important the State School Board races are in Nebraska.
In four of the eight districts, conservatives are challenging progressive incumbents to turn the tide of their efforts to promote Health/Sex Ed Standards and other controversial ideas.
Innis said even though he is speaking to smaller groups, he is focused on people understanding the importance of the November election.
Tegtmeier, who received the NEGOP endorsement, spoke on the need to take away the “red tape”, which currently forms barriers in allowing qualified teachers to move to Nebraska or for teachers to widen their endorsement credentials, thus adding to the teacher shortage.
Tegtmeier would like to see the Department of Education, with its 500 employees, undergo an audit. She also spoke about increasing local control and reducing the unfunded mandates that come from the state.
Supporting Tegtmeier, and affirming how important the upcoming midterm elections is to the education of our young people, was Kathy Wilmot of Beaver City. Wilmot is running for the Board of Regents. Chris Bruns, candidate for Legislative District 42, spoke during the evening in support of the work Tegtmeier is doing and her ability to represent the people of the district.
Bruns and Wilmot also recently received the endorsement of the NEGOP in their respective races.
