An exceptional year for the Perkins County Community Foundation Fund

The year 2022 was another exceptional year for the Perkins County Community Foundation Fund, PCCFF, in terms of financial gifts received. Some 25 donors added nearly $32,500 in year-end giving to the Fund’s endowment fund. This is an increase from the previous year-end gifts, although with fewer donors contributing.

“The Fund Advisory Committee is grateful for such support and confidence that the local citizens have in the Fund’s mission to “enrich community values through sharing financial and human resources,” said Dennis Demmel, fund advisory committee chair.

The Perkins County Fund now has unrestricted endowment funds of some $675,000 as of Dec. 31. The fund endowments are managed by the Nebraska Community Foundation, NCF, which also manages some $113 million in unrestricted endowed assets for 158 other “community based affiliated funds” in Nebraska.

The local fund began the fiscal year on July 1, 2022 with nearly $28,000 available as “payout” to support local projects. Nearly a dozen grants have been made to non-profit and government entities in this current fiscal year. This includes grants made at the recent Fund Advisory Committee meeting in early February, when a total of $5000 in grants were distributed to the Grant Gun Club, Perkins County Arts Council, Village of Elsie and the Perkins County Youth Art Program.

The year-end giving and continuing community support of the local fund is notable, since the Fund Advisory Committee went on record earlier in the year 2022 encouraging support of Western Sky Community Care Center, the proposed new elder care center. That fund raising campaign has generated nearly $1.2 million.

The Perkins County Community Foundation Fund also recently established a sub-account for the Village of Elsie for a campaign to fund a playground for the village. Nearly $27,000 was raised within several months for that project. This effort exemplifies how some early assistance of the fund can accelerate additional support from local citizens.

The Fund Advisory Committee of the Perkins County Community Foundation Fund appreciates the donors’ continuous support of the Fund’s vision of “vibrant communities and a high quality of life” for the County, in addition to the support of other entities.

The folks of Perkins County are very generous!
