Shop local at village Christmas events
The annual Christmas Open House in Grant on Nov. 21 was a huge success. However, the good deals and opportunities for shoppers to support local businesses isn’t over, but will extend to the three Perkins County Villages of Venango, Madrid and Elsie in the month of December.
Village of Madrid
The fun starts in the Village of Madrid on Thursday, Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Activities will include several businesses providing free items, including cinnamon rolls at the General Store from 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m., pizza lunch at Country Load Trailer Sales, and tacos from Eastern Sky for lunch. Other meal specials for the day include hot roast beef for lunch at the Country Kitchen, and steak dinner being made at the Bootleg Bar for dinner.
Regier Equipment will have free popcorn and cookies all day, with Adams Bank & Trust providing free gift wrapping and hot cocoa.
From 4-6 p.m. all are welcome to come out for a tractor and hayrack ride starting at Country Load Trailer Sales.
Several activities will take place starting at 6 p.m. at Country Load Trailer Sales. These will include a drawing for Perkins County Chamber of Commerce greenbacks; a Christmas Passport drawing that is being sponsored by Regier Equipment, Country Load Trailers, The General Store, and Eastern Sky; a visit from Santa, who will give out several presents to children who are there, and various vendor booths selling items at Country Load Trailers.
Village of Venango
The Village of Venango will host its Lions Club “Pancakes with Santa” event on Sunday, Dec. 8 starting at 5 p.m. at the Venango Legion Hall.
Available for dinner that evening will be pancakes, sausage and eggs, hot cocoa and cookies, all for a free-will donation.
Children are invited to come and get their photo with Santa and get a surprise treat.
The drawing for Perkins County Chamber of Commerce greenbacks will also take place that evening at 6 p.m. at the Legion Hall.
Village of Elsie
The Village of Elsie will host its Christmas Open House on Monday, Dec. 9, at the Elsie Fire Hall.
The firemen will put on their annual pancake feed from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Santa will make his appearance at 6 p.m., with drawings for door prizes and Perkins County Greenbacks taking place at 6:30 p.m.
