Lady Plainsmen 2-6

The Lady Plainsmen took the third place title in the past week’s Holiday Tournament hosted by Perkins County High School. They started with a defeat to South Platte Knights, but managed to come back with a win over Wallace Wildcats. 

SOUTH PLATTE

Lady Plainsmen began the game with a tie of twenty-one points in the first quarter. They then fought to take the lead. They ended the second quarter with a score of 37-35. The girls came back tired from half time and could not keep up with the Knights. Plainsmen scored nine points in the third quarter, with Knights scoring seventeen. Finally in the fourth quarter, Lady Plainsmen scored seven points, making the final score of the game 53-64. 

WALLACE

Despite their previous loss, the Lady Plainsmen were ready to battle the Wallace Wildcats. They began by immediately taking the lead in the first quarter by scoring seventeen points followed by scoring eight points in the second quarter. However, the Lady Plainsmen came back even stronger in the second half, scoring nineteen points in the third quarter. The girls took the third place title by scoring a whopping twenty-four points in the final quarter of the game. The final score was 68-31 with Perkins County Lady Plainsmen ringing in the new year with a win. 

Lady Plainsmen have had a few losses the past few games. They were first defeated by the Paxton Tigers with a score of 39-63. They then were defeated by the Dundy County Stratton Tigers with a score of 40-46. 

PAXTON

Lady Plainsmen had a good start scoring sixteen points in the first quarter. They began to fall behind to the Tigers in the second quarter by only managing six points whereas the opposing team scored nineteen. Lady Plainsmen came back from halftime, scoring 9 points followed by the fourth quarter, scoring eight points. The final score came to 39-63 with Paxton taking the win. 

DUNDY COUNTY 

In the first quarter Lady Plainsmen had a weak start. They only scored four points. Dundy County Stratton Tigers took the lead in the very beginning with sixteen points. In the second quarter, the girls started their comeback, challenging the Tigers by scoring nine points. By the third quarter the Lady Plainsmen kept getting better. They scored fourteen points, and followed with fourteen points in the fourth quarter. Even though the Lady Plainsmen fought to stay in the game, it wasn’t enough to take back the lead. The final score was 40-46.
