Hastings Memorial Library invites families to go to the library and sign up for Level Up at Your Library
Hastings Memorial Library launches its Level Up at Your Library summer reading program on May 30th, 2025.
During the next two months, the library will host a range of free activities for children, teens, and adults to encourage and support a love of reading. Participants can win prizes for reaching their reading goals.
“We’ve planned some fun and exciting programs for all ages! We hope everyone will come and discover why the library is a great place to read, learn, or just hang out,” said Robin Quinn, Library Director.
The Library is hosting weekly storytimes and activities for ages 18 mos. through 6th grade throughout the month of June. Additionally, kids, teens, and adults can all participate in Reading Challenges from June until August including: Duck, Duck, Book!, Reading Dragons, and Bookopoly.
While the Summer Reading Program is about having fun, it’s also about helping kids be successful when they go back to school in the fall.
Research has shown that reading over the summer prevents summer reading loss.
“Studies also indicate students who read recreationally outperformed those who don’t. Students read more when they can choose materials based on their own interests,” added Quinn.
“Our library is committed to supporting lifelong learning and educational enrichment for all families.”
A Summer Reading Kickoff will be held May 30th at Grant City Park where you can pick up your reading logs and register for programs.
Please let the library know if you plan to attend. Registration is available online at the library’s website at http://libraries.ne.gov/grant or in person at the library at 505 Central Ave. in Grant.
