Open-Air Concert Scheduled for Friday Night in Grant
A free outdoor concert featuring local and regional talent is set for Friday night, June 13, at the lot north of Blume.
The open-air show will begin at 7:30 p.m. and feature performances by Denny Hansen and Tony Kempf.
Kempf, a professional drummer with more than 20 years of experience, is a member of the Cheyenne, Wyoming-based band Bedlam, which has performed at major events including Cheyenne Frontier Days. Hansen, a local favorite known for his guitar playing and vocals, occasionally performs at community events.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating and refreshments. The event is open to the public.
‘Pollinator’ Art Show at Meadowlark Gallery
The Meadowlark Gallery in downtown Grant features a new show each month, and June is for the pollinators, so to speak. The gallery is now showcasing “Pollinator,” a new exhibition by the Impact Nebraska Artists collective.
The show, which highlights the beauty and ecological importance of pollinators through a variety of artistic mediums, is open to the public Fridays and Saturdays through June from 5 to 7 p.m.
The exhibit features work from artists across the state, each offering their unique interpretation of the pollinator theme—ranging from bees and butterflies to the plants that sustain them.
The Meadowlark Gallery, located in downtown Grant, serves as a hub for local and regional art and community engagement. Admission is free.
For more information about the exhibit or the artists involved, visitors can stop by during open hours or follow the gallery’s updates on social media.
Perkins County Alumni Banquet Set for Saturday
The annual Perkins County High School Alumni Banquet will take place Saturday, June 14 at the school in Grant, with events scheduled throughout the late day and evening for returning graduates, community members and guests.
This year’s banquet will honor alumni who graduated in years ending in 5 or 0, a shift from the traditional 10-year honor cycle to a new five-year schedule.
The high school will open its doors at 1 p.m. for anyone who would like to tour the building and view the newest addition, as well as recent updates to Pritchett Gym - a reminder that security cameras are in use!
Class photos will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m.
The menu will feature prime rib sandwiches.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in “church clothes”—anything one might wear to a typical Sunday service.

Following the banquet, an after party will be held at the Perkins County Fairgrounds from 7 to 11 p.m. The event will feature music, dessert and a cash bar. Admission is $5, and attendees must be 21 or older. The after party is open to all alumni and the general public.
