Fall is approaching which also means so is the Perkins County Football season of 2025. Coming off of a “solid” off season, players are ready to build and improve during practice to get back to the game of football. This year Brendan Geier is the head coach, along side assistant coaches Ryan Boldt, Steve Snyder, and Eric McCormick. Twenty total students are participating.Compared to previous years, the junior class numbers are low. Six starters are returning to the field this year. Three of which are defensive and three are offensive. Geier depends on the seniors to lead the team this season. “We will need our senior class to lead the way for us. All six of them should see significant playing time throughout the course of the season. We will rely on them to provide leadership and the work ethic in order to be successful.” said Geier.
On that note, the team’s strengths are necessary. So far, just starting out practices, team unity, work ethic, and coach ability are apparent in this group of gentlemen. Challenges this year will be keeping the team healthy, just like in any sport. The team will also be expecting a lot from the sophomore class due to the low number of players in the junior class. With time they will be able to run the ball and establish the line of scrimmage on both sides of the field.
The first football game will be held in Perkins County against Dundy County Stratton on August 28.
