The Perkins County girls’ golf team has opened their season with a string of strong performances, led by senior standout Jacqueline Gloy and sophomore Lexi Fisher.

The Plainsmen began competition on September 2 at the Kimball Invitational, where both golfers found their way onto the medal stand. Gloy claimed first place to kick off her season with a victory, while Fisher earned fifth. Head coach Jorje Geisert noted that while the Kimball course posed some challenges, her players still rose to the occasion.

“The big pine trees at Kimball gave us some trouble but we still had both girls medal,” Geisert said.

Two days later, Perkins County competed at the Chappell Invitational, where Gloy continued her winning streak with another first-place finish. Her round was highlighted by a personal-best score of 86. Fisher also impressed by lowering her average and staying competitive against a strong field.

“At Chappell, Gloy shot her personal best with an 86 and took first place. Fisher competed well and lowered her average,” Geisert said.

The team returned home on September 9 to host their own invitational at Pheasant Run Golf Course. Gloy once again finished at the top of the leader board, claiming her third straight first-place finish of the season. Fisher rounded out the top ten with a 10th-place finish, giving the Lady Plainsmen another solid day of results.

The Plainsmen will continue their season on September 18 when they travel to Cambridge to compete at Cross Creek Golf Course. Tee-off is scheduled for 11 a.m.
