Western Sky Community Care Center to host fundraiser Oct. 4

It’s time to celebrate! 

The new Western Sky Community Care Center (WSCCC) is progressing rapidly on schedule, with a tentative opening date of April 1, 2026. 

The board and the fundraising committee would like to thank all the generous supporters of this very important project in southwest Nebraska. Because of your support, it is evident that the Perkins County and surrounding residents want to have a local modern care home for our elderly. The board and the fundraising committee are grateful for the generous financial support to make this a reality. 

USDA is the loan agency issuing a 40-year low interest loan for construction. There are two requirements for this loan; one is for WSCCC to have $3.15 million in the bank in order to break ground. That goal was met in October of 2024: the second requirement is to have one year’s mortgage payment of $665,000.00 on hand until the loan is repaid. 

On Saturday, October 4, 2025 there will be a free will donation meal and auction fundraiser in the Wheatland Wedding and Events Center from 4:30-7:30 p.m. The event center is the old Wheatland High School. 

One of the needs is for donated items for the auction. New items from individuals and businesses can be donated for the auction. Please contact a board member to donate items to the auction. Donations towards WSCCC are still being accepted at Pinnacle Bank in Grant. Gifts of grain or livestock are also an option for those who would like to donate these items. Also, donations can be made for the future in a will.

WSCCC will be a care home that will benefit all of southwest Nebraska and the board is grateful for the generosity and support of the community. This project is truly a testament to the generosity and compassion of the community, and the board is appreciative to all.
