The Lady Plainsmen Volleyball team traveled to Elm Creek Nebraska on Saturday September 13. Plainsmen and Red Cloud Warriors played 3 sets total.

The first set was won by the Warriors. The score was 25-19. Plainsmen fought back in the second set with a score of 25-18 making the match a tie. Despite the Plainsman coming back in the second set, Warriors finished strong in the last set to win the game. They won the set 25-18.

Despite the loss to Warriors, Plainsmen still had success with their fundamentals.  Ella Homan led the team in hits, totalling 16 kills for the game. Tessa Uehling contributed by fighting to get 14 digs. Just behind her was Kaylynn Mackee with 10 digs.

“Saturday was a good day for us in terms of competition. While we have had a bit of adversity this season so far with players absent here and there, the girls have stepped up and played well. The flexibility of being able to play a different position has been a true blessing and that is what being a team is. Understanding the role that is needed and stepping up to it. While we went 1-2, we did some really great things. We played the net well...we just have to capitalize on a few things to make them go our way in the future...we have to be more consistent and have less unforced errors. I told the girls that this tournament was good for us so that we could see some different competition that we aren’t used to seeing and it was fun to see them compete without hesitation,” said Head Coach Monica Cole.
