The Lady Plainsmen Volleyball team played numerous teams last week. The current record for Lady Plainsmen is 11-13.

Wauneta Palisade

On October 7, Lady Plainsmen traveled to Garden County to compete in a triangular tournament against Wauneta Palisade and Garden County. First they faced the Wauneta Palisade Broncos. The Broncos took a strong lead in the first set, with a score of 25-19, as well as the second set with a score of 25-10. Ultimately, the Broncos proved to win against the Plainsmen.

Garden County

Following the game against the Broncos, the Lady Plainsmen faced the Garden County Eagles. Plainsmen lost the first set to the Eagles, finishing with a score of 25-15. Plainsmen continued to battle Eagles with determination, however, Eagles finished the second set with a score of 25-17, winning the match. “The girls played great at times and we had opportunities to win sets, but fell short,” said head coach Monica Cole.

Chase County

Plainsmen hosted the Chase County Longhorns at Perkins County High School on October 10 for “Pac the House” night where a multitude of the community came to support their home team. Plainsmen faced the longhorns for three sets. The first set ended in a loss to Longhorns, totalling 25-11. The second set, the Plainsmen pushed back, however the Longhorns fought harder to earn the win of 25-19. Plainsmen’s drive persisted in the third set, but Longhorns took the lead at 25-23. “We are so so grateful to everyone that helped make PACK THE HOUSE night as fun and successful as it was. I think everyone kind of looks forward to all of the extra events that take place and the house was rockin’. The girls played a good game against Chase County. Even though we fell short in the win, it was a big difference in their competitive drive from Tuesday night. Thank you, Perkins County for showing out and supporting PC Volleyball,” commented Cole.

Morrill

The next night Plainsmen geared up to play Morrill Lions once again. The game was held at Perkins County High School. In total Plainsmen and Lions played four sets. Each one was a “nail-bitter” with close scores almost every time. The first set Plainsmen fell to the Lions 25-21. They used the loss as a drive to win the second set 25-23. In the third set, Plainsmen faced a defeat again to the Lions, 25-15. The last set resulted in perseverance from both teams. Although, Plainsmen showed their determination to win, the Lions took the win 27-25. “Coming off of such a big night and a huge week in general, it was hard to find the spark for the game. Although the atmosphere seemed quiet, the girls competed. Again, we had our opportunities to take the win, but we fell short. We are still working on staying mentally strong by the end of each set or match so that we can get our confidence of winning back. These girls are fully capable of success and we are hoping to get back on track this week with  a tri in Hershey on Tuesday and the conference tournament coming up on Saturday!” said Cole.
