The Perkins County Football team played the Hemingford Bobcats on October 17, in Hemingford, Nebraska. This was the last game for the regular season. Plainsmen’s record for the regular season is 25-26.

The first quarter was a nail biting start to the game. Both teams fought to score, however the opposing defense stopped them. Neither team scored throughout the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Bobcats managed to earn the first points of the game by scoring a touchdown and completing the two point conversion to follow. Plainsmen remained scoreless.

In the third quarter Plainsmen got to know how the Bobcats played and they used it to their advantage. Plainsmen scored two touchdowns as did the opposing team bringing the score to 22-12 with Bobcats in the lead.

In the final quarter Plainsmen could not pass the Bobcats defense. The Bobcats scored twice. The final score was 36-12. Head Coach Brenan Geier reflected on Friday’s game, saying it was a close game even though Plainsmen were dealing with some injuries. “I thought our kids showed up and played extremely hard against a very good Hemingford team. We dealt with a few injuries early on in the game and we had younger kids step in and play well. The final score was not indicative of how close of a game it was.”

Next Action

The Plainsmen will travel to Hebron, NE on Thursday, October 23, to play Thayer Central Titans for the first round of the playoffs. Kickoff will take place at 4:30 PM MT. Geier looks forward to their competition. “Anytime you make the playoffs it is an accomplishment, we are excited to take on Thayer Central this Thursday in Hebron. They are a very big and physical football team, we will have to play hard and match their physicality from the beginning.”.
