Plainsmen football team traveled to Hebron, NE to play the Thayer Central Titans on October 23. Unfortunately, Plainsmens season came to an end that night due to a loss against the Titans. The final score was 47- 6.

Both teams withheld the other from scoring in the first quarter. In the second and third quarters, Titans scored sixteen points each, bringing the score to 32 while Plainsmen remained scoreless. Finally, the Plainsmen were able to score a touchdown in the last quarter, however, Titans scored fifteen. The final score was 47- 6.  Head Coach Brendan Geier reflected on that night. “Thayer Central is a very good football team. They are big upfront and very athletic in the backfield. We played a very good first half against them and our kids played hard for all four quarters. I was extremely proud of our effort,” said Geier.

As the season closed Plainsmen went out with a record of 5-4. While the majority of the players will return to the field next season, Perkins County Seniors wore their Plainsmen jerseys for the last time. Seniors include Jet Peterson, Domanic Williams, Myles Bishop, Josiah Morales, Preston Schwanebeck, and Alec Reese. Geier notes that all players had many good qualities to help them get to where they did. “I thought our football team showed tremendous work ethic, selflessness and team unity throughout the course of the season. These qualities help lead us to another successful season and the state playoffs. We showed a tremendous amount of improvement this season and we were playing to our potential by the end of the season. I want to take this time to thank our seniors, Myles Bishop, Jet Peterson, Josiah Mireles, Alec Reese, Preston Schwanebeck and Domanic Williams. I also want to take time to thank our assistant coaches, Ryan Boldt, Steve Snyder and Eric McCormick. They have dedicated a tremendous amount of time to Plainsmen football and their time and energy doesn’t go unnoticed,” he said
