The Perkins County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas Open House is set in Grant on Thursday, Nov. 20 with the theme “There’s ‘Snow’ Place Like Home….Perkins County.” The evening is hosted by the chamber to encourage the community to patronize the small businesses throughout Perkins County for all of their holiday shopping needs.
Santa and his reindeer will make their appearance at 5 p.m. to kick-off the evening with the tree lighting in the lot north of Blume. The lot will be decorated for people to take fun and festive holiday themed photos during the evening. Santa will stay at the lot in an enclosed area to visit with anyone who wants to talk with him.
For those who are hungry during the evening there will be different food offerings at various businesses. This will include the Perkins County Senior Center that will once again hold its free-will donation baked potato bar from 5-7:30 p.m. To-go orders will be available. For more information call the center at (308) 352-4236.
Public transportation will be offered during the evening by the Perkins County Senior Center for a small fee by calling the center. Vendors will be set up during the evening inside the senior center as well as town banks, Meadowlark Gallery and various businesses.
Also beginning that night will be the annual Chamber Bucks drawing season kickoff. Chamber Bucks drawings this year will be Dec. 4 in Madrid, Dec. 8 in Elsie, Dec. 14 in Venango at each of those communities’ Holiday Open Houses, and the grand prize drawn taking place on Dec. 20 in Grant at Hatch’s. With every purchase made at a chamber business, shoppers will gain an entry into the Chamber Bucks drawings. Those present at the events will double their prize.
Also this year the Chamber is sponsoring a “Spend It To Win It” event. From Nov. 17-21, everyone who shops Chamber businesses in Perkins County, purchases a total of $250 in merchandise, and brings their receipts to Pinnacle Bank by noon on Dec. 21 will be entered for a $250 drawing. For more information on the event, call Pinnacle Bank at 308-352-4131.
