Grant will always be home

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

Whoever said, “You can’t go home” never lived in Grant. This past weekend I was in Grant for a funeral. Saturday night I had a flat tire at Quik Stop. Full disclosure-l accidently let air out of the tire when I was trying to add air to the tire. My sister Jeanie was with me, and we tried to decide the best course of action.

I called our brother John Long, and he said I’ll get ahold of Gaylord, and he’ll come help you. Gaylord was there as soon as we got off the phone, but the oil in his generator was so cold it wouldn’t start. Rick came and told Gaylord that he could park his pickup in Rick’s heated garage. Meanwhile Ken showed up and said he would go home and get some ether to spray into the generator thinking that might help it start. JJ called Mr. Toner at the Coop who said he would come in Sunday to patch the tire if needed. Ken then called Angela who came with a great little portable generator and pumped up all of my tires! Let me remind you that this was all taking place on a very cold Saturday night. When I asked what I owed everyone, they all told me not to be silly-this is just what people do in Grant when someone needs help. Once again, thank you to the multitude of people who helped me out just because I needed help.
