Colglazier earns December honors

Perkins County High School senior Brenna Colglazier has been selected as the December Pinnacle Bank Senior of the Month, an honor recognizing her academic excellence, school involvement, leadership, and commitment to the community.

Throughout her high school career, Brenna has been actively involved in a wide range of activities. She participated in cross country all four years of high school and competed in track her freshman year, with plans to participate again this spring. Brenna was also involved in the school musical during her freshman, sophomore, and junior years and sang in choir for those same three years. In addition, she participated in one-act play during her sophomore and senior years.

Brenna further expanded her interests by taking part in speech during her sophomore year and mock trial, where she also served as a photographer. She has been a member of student council during her junior and senior years and was part of the prom committee as a junior.

Academically, Brenna has achieved numerous honors. She earned All-A Honor Roll recognition in ninth, 10th, and 11th grades and received NCPA Academic All-State honors. She was selected for the UNK Honor Choir in both 10th and 11th grades and has been a member of the National Honor Society during her junior and senior years.

Outside of school, Brenna remains highly active in both extracurriculars and community service. She plays soccer and participates in a summer run club. She has been involved with the Lions Club throughout all four years of high school, was a member of the Leo Club during her sophomore and junior years, and participated in the Perkins County Community Foundation Fund as a junior. In 11th grade, she earned the Rotary Youth Leadership Award. Brenna also started a small online business during her sophomore year, which she continues to operate today, and she has earned recognition in thePerkins County Fair open entry classes during her freshman, sophomore, and junior years.

When asked about her work history and lessons learned, Brenna shared that she has organized and managed patient files at a medical clinic, performed farm work such as moving vehicles, sweeping bins, and mowing, collected and delivered samples from farm fields, and babysat.

“An important lesson I have learned is that to make a job run smoothly, you must have a dedication to work hard and problem solve, as well as have a willingness to communicate and get things done,” she said.

Looking ahead, Brenna plans to attend college to pursue at least a bachelor’s degree.

“As of now, I intend to have this degree be in biological sciences,” she said, “but I’m open to change depending on what classes I find a deep interest in and passion for in college.”

When asked which accomplishment she is most proud of during her time at Perkins County High School, Brenna pointed to her involvement in the school musical.

“I never began to picture myself doing anything like that when I was in junior high,” she said. “But with the help of Mrs. Hite’s persuasion, I found a love and passion for performance that I never thought I had. I will always smile back on myself for going out on that stage and giving it my all.”

Brenna also reflected on what she values most from her school experience.

“School has taught me how to hone my skills and explore my interests through diligence, studying, and patience,” she said. “If there’s one skill I value most from school, it’s balance—knowing when to work hard and knowing when you need to give yourself rest.”

As a graduating senior and future college student, Brenna credits the local community for shaping who she is today.

“Our community has always been one of kind-hearted, close-knit people willing to help anyone in need,” she said. “This influence has led me to have an openness to helping others.”

She noted that she gives back through small acts of kindness, helping clean up parks and streets after storms, assisting at the senior center, and lending a hand with Lions Club fundraisers and projects.

“These acts may not always seem big, but they truly help brighten our town and make it feel welcoming for others,” Brenna said. “Overall, I am ready to help whenever and wherever I am needed, and I am grateful to be part of a community full of wonderful people.”

Brenna Colglazier’s dedication to academics, extracurricular involvement, and community service make her a deserving recipient of the December Pinnacle Bank Senior of the Month honor.

For being selected Senior of the Month, Colglazier’s picture will hang in the lobby of Pinnacle Bank in Grant, and she will be eligible for a scholarship awarded at the end of the school year.

The Student of the Month and scholarship program are sponsored jointly by community members and Pinnacle Bank in Grant.
