PC Quiz Bowl team heading to state

The Plainsmen High School Quiz Bowl Team traveled to North Platte on Monday, Mar. 16, 2026, for the ESU 16 District Quiz Bowl Tournament.  Fourteen teams competed in this double-elimination, bracket-style tournament.  PCS went 6-2, finished as the District Runner-Up and earned a spot in the All-Class State Quiz Bowl Tournament (Apr. 20, 2026).

PCS lost in the first round but battled back in the consolation bracket with five straight wins (including a victory over the team that had beaten them to start the day) to advance to the Championship.  PCS defeated Arthur, but since that was Arthur’s first loss, PCS had to turn around and play them again.  Arthur won the last round and claimed the District Championship, and PCS earned the District Runner-Up trophy.  Both the Champion and Runner-Up teams earned trips to State.  

Rd. 1:  PC lost to Stapleton 15-70

Rd. 2:  PC beat Paxton 85-15

Rd. 3:  PC beat Sutherland 45-0

Rd. 4:  PC beat McPherson County 60-35

Rd. 5:  PC beat Thedford 50-10

Rd. 6:  PC beat Stapleton 65-50

Championship Rd. 7:  PC beat Arthur 55-30

  ** this was Arthur’s 1st loss, so PC had to play them again

Championship Rd. 8:  PC lost to Arthur 10-60
