Perkins County Schools to welcome families at back-to-school open houses:

Perkins County Schools is inviting students and families to kick off the 2026-27 school year by attending upcoming back-to-school open house events at both the junior-senior high school and the elementary school.
The first event will be Back to School Night for students entering grades 7-12, scheduled for 6 p.m. MT Tuesday, Aug. 4, in the Perkins County High School main gym.
The evening is designed to help students and parents prepare for the upcoming school year by reviewing important information and completing final enrollment requirements.
Families are reminded that PK-12 enrollment forms for the 2026-27 school year must be completed on or before Aug. 1. Online enrollment forms are available on the Perkins County Schools website at www.perkinscountyschools.org under the District – Enrollment Forms section.
Topics to be covered during Back to School Night include online enrollment, school lunches and meal prices, technology and social media expectations, laptop rental policies, internship and CloseGap information, standard response protocols, activity dues and fees, concussion testing, required physicals, mental health resources and required signatures.
Following the presentation, families will have an opportunity to enjoy a community barbecue and visit with school staff.
Students in grades 7-8 will begin with the presentation at 6 p.m., followed by the barbecue, while grades 9-12 families will enjoy the barbecue first before attending their presentation.
One week later, the district will welcome its youngest students and their families during the Perkins County Elementary Open House on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
The elementary open house will run from 6-7 p.m., while a community picnic on the north side of the school will continue from 6-8 p.m.
The picnic, sponsored by Pinnacle Bank, will feature hamburgers, hot dogs, water and cookies. Every Perkins County Elementary student will also receive a complimentary snow cone.
Families will have the opportunity to meet teachers, tour classrooms and become familiar with the school before classes begin.
Elementary Principal Mr. Reisig will present brief informational sessions in the gym, with the PK-2 presentation beginning at 6 p.m. and the grades 3-6 presentation at 6:30 p.m.
School officials encourage all families to attend the open house events as an opportunity to complete enrollment requirements, learn about expectations for the coming school year and build connections with teachers and staff before students return to the classroom.
