Community Foundation Fund concludes fiscal year
The Perkins County Community Foundation Fund, PCCFF, ended fiscal year 2026 on June 30. During the fiscal year, some $16,000 was utilized to fund local projects including support for museum upgrades, “Farm to School” program utilizing local beef, backpack program, Missoula children’s theater, and numerous other projects. Some $10,000 was carried forward to the new fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026.
The Perkins County Fund, PCCFF, currently has endowment funds surpassing $1 million, as of June 30, 2026. The funds are up nearly $50,000 during the last quarter, the result of contributions and strong investment markets. The PCCFF endowments are managed by the Nebraska Community Foundation, NCF, which also manages some $50 million in “unrestricted” endowed assets for 102 other “community based affiliated funds” in Nebraska.
Currently the PCCFF is receiving a “payout” of some $50,000 in the current fiscal year, including “carried forward” from the previous fiscal year. This level of funding is available for local projects through June 30, 2027. Over 120 projects have been funded since 2003, when PCCFF was founded, utilizing over $200,000 in grant support from the Fund.
In July, the Fund Advisory Committee began the new fiscal year by approving a grant of $10,000 to the Southwest Nebraska Community Betterment Corporation for supporting low interest down payment loans for new home buyers. Amy Sauer, executive director for SWNCBC serving a seven- county area, indicates that Perkins County residents provide the most demand for the funds. The revolving loan fund will also assist home buyers well into the future.
Payout from the PCCFF endowment funds is used to provide grants for local community projects within Perkins County, like those projects described above. Grants by PCCFF are available by applying with Michelle Ross, treasurer, at 308-882-8469. Government entities and 501-c-3 nonprofit organizations are eligible.
