Tucker runs uncontested for commissioner role

1 Why do you want to serve?
This county is my home and its future is personal to me. I serve because I want to ensure that our community remains a place where we all thrive. As our area faces new pressures and rapid changes, we need experienced leadership for the future. My commitment has been to serve the citizens of Perkins County because local government is where decisions directly touch daily life.
2 What qualifications or experience would you bring to the position?
I currently serve as the District 3 County Commissioner, a role I have held for over 14 years. During that time, the county has made significant changes to more efficiently serve those who rely on our county government services. I offer proven board experience, a solid track record of results, and a plan to move us forward for the future.
3 What do you hope to contribute in this role?
I hope to provide steady, common-sense leadership that protects taxpayers’ money. My focus is on balancing the budget, ensuring roads and emergency services receive necessary funding, and guiding responsible county government growth without sacrificing what makes this a great place to live.
4 What immediate priorities would you address if elected?
Over the years, I have observed that the constraints coming from Lincoln, and the services demanded of local governments are moving in opposite directions. Educating ourselves on these specific issues and preparing for what is ahead will make these changes easier, regardless of how difficult some of these decisions will be. The economy is challenging in today’s environment, and I want to ensure efficiencies exist at the county level to help us through these challenging times.
5 What distinguishes your candidacy from others seeking the position?
It is very important to me that the county operates with full transparency and I am open to listening to those whom I serve.
6 Other issues you wish to address?
The past few years have presented several issues and challenges in the county. I have found that it is important to study the impacts and embrace coming changes in a forthright and preemptive manner. I realize that change isn’t always easy, but it is necessary to move us forward and navigate difficulties.
7 Current occupation and length of employment?
I currently farm in the suburbs of Brandon for as long as I can remember.
8 What would you like voters to know about your personal life or family?
My wife, Rachel, and I live on the farm with our youngest son Trevyn. We have four children. Michael works with me on the farm, Tyler is a LearJet Pilot for Trego Dugan Aviation in Chicago, and my daughter Kylie, who is recently married, works for Amazon in Papillion.
