Arvid Ensz

Arvid R. Ensz, 90, formerly of Madrid, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.

Arvid was born June 14, 1928, at Inman, Kansas to Henry and Anna (Reimer) Ensz.

In 1951, Arvid married Florence Penner. Their union was blessed with one son, Gordon. The couple farmed near the Blaze Fork Creek in Kansas for over 20 years, before relocating to Madrid in 1977, where they continued to farm. Arvid also served as a pastor of the churches at both Inman and Madrid for many years. 

Preceding him in death are his parents, four brothers, three sisters, seven brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law and one infant great-grandson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Florence; his son Gordon and Janette, Madrid; six grandchildren, Kim and Martin Doolittle, Darin and Anna Ensz, all of Madrid, Don and Melissa Ensz of Vale, Oregon, Ryan and Elizabeth Ensz, Brad and Tammy Ensz, Joni and Lane Friesen all of Madrid; 23 great-grandchildren; sister Betty Giesbrecht of Brooksville, Miss.; sisters-in-law Margaret Ensz and Vada Ensz, both of Inman, Kan.; Anita Penner of Brooksville, Miss.; brothers-in-law Bill Giesel of Moundridge, Kan., and Milton Toews of Neilburg, Saskatchewan, Canada. 

A memorial has been established in Arvid’s memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.

Services were on Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Golden Plains Mennonite Church west of Madrid. Burial was in the Madrid Cemetery.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant was in charge of arrangements.
