Beverly Styskal, 73, of Grant, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado.

Bev was born Feb. 10, 1946, in Grant to Hubert “Hugh” and Jessie “Tuck” (Bassett) Ramsey. She graduated from Perkins County High School with the class of 1964.

On Sept. 5, 1964, Bev married Jim A. Styskal, and the couple made their home in Grant.

Bev worked at the hospital for many years before going to work at the clinical practice of Dr. L.C. Potts and Dr. Paul Bottom. Most recently, Bev had worked at First Insight Eyecare.

Bev was about her family and personal relationships, often enjoying spending quality time with them, where she would devote much of her time and energy to reaching the people in her life in a positive and meaningful way. Some of her most favorite times were spent raising their son Michael to grow into a man she was proud of, watching their grandchildren play and become young men, and having cheerful visits with family and friends.

One of the most precious personal relationships Bev had was with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Bev seemed to shine in telling others about this relationship and wanted all to know His saving grace.

Bev had a bright and joyful personality that was more than endearing. She was known for her infectious smile, kindness and compassionate spirit. She loved sewing, biking, taking walks and traveling with Jim whenever they got the chance. They especially enjoyed making trips to the Hot Rod Power Tours over the years. While Bev was initially reluctant to go, after her first trip to Madison, Wis., in 2009 she was hooked.

Wherever she went, whether traveling or just out for a walk, Bev was attentive about her appearance. She liked to put her best foot forward and never seemed to have a hair out of place. Color on her perfect nails and lips was always a must!

In 2012, a life-altering accident left Jim paralyzed and in a wheelchair. While this changed the nature of their lives together, they grew in love and trust for each other, and for the Lord.

Bev’s life is a poignant testament to her own favorite Bible verse, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; and sister, Katherine Ramsey.

Survivors include her husband, Jim of Grant; son, Michael Styskal, daughter-in-law Ann Styskal and their children, Izak and Ivan, all of Seattle, Wash.; brother, Rich Ramsey of Glendale, Ariz.; along with many other relatives and countless friends.

Memorials are suggested to New Hope Church in Ogallala in Bev’s memory. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.

Memorial services will be on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at 10 a.m. at New Hope Church in Ogallala with Pastor Eric Wait officiating. No interment of cremains is planned at this time.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant is in charge of arrangements.
