On May 8, 1948, Carolyn and Gerald Cohen were wed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wallace, Neb.  They began their married life on the Cohen farm south of Wallace until Gerald was called back into the service and they moved to San Diego, Calif. for a time.  They later bought a farm south of Wallace and lived on the farm until they bought the St. Mary’s Rectory and moved into Wallace.  They purchased a propane business and Carolyn kept the books for the business until it was sold in 1982.  They also farmed and ranched.  In 2005 Gerald and Carolyn moved to North Platte and Carolyn lived there until February 2019.

Carolyn was an amazingly talented person.  She was an excellent seamstress and made many of Jennifer’s clothes, as well as teddy bears and dolls for the grandchildren.  She painted many beautiful paintings and crocheted afghans and doilies.  She taught herself how to do many of these talents and perfected each skill. Carolyn enjoyed her collections of sad irons and teapots. In younger years, she was a parishioner of the St. Mary’s church and later the Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in North Platte.
