Darlene Stinnette, 90, of Grant, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.

Darlene was born to John and Matilda Erlewine of rural Grant on April 3, 1928. She was the middle child of three daughters. Darlene attended a rural grade school and graduated from Perkins County High School.

On July 5, 1947 Darlene was united in marriage to Orville Stinnette and to this union were born daughter Judy and son Buddy. They had moved to Grant where Darlene worked for many years. She worked at Atens Department Store for many years and after retiring from there she volunteered at the Grant Senior Center. 

Darlene was a member of the United Methodist Church and volunteered with the MOPs program, baking bread for communion and delivering bulletins to those who could not attend services. She enjoyed working in her beautiful yard, listening to country music, and attending many livestock shows over the years with her late husband.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, and her two sisters, Barb Woodworth and Lou Vene Erlewine.

Darlene is survived by son, Buddy Stinnette of Grant and daughter Judy and husband Stan Brown of Lincoln, Neb. Granddaughter Melissa and husband Ryan Schmidt and two great-grandchildren Madelyn and William of Houston, Texas.

A memorial has been established in Darlene’s memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com. 

Services were on Monday, March 25, 2019 at the Methodist Church in Grant with Pastor Lorri Kentner officiating. Burial was in the Grant Fairview Cemetery.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant is in charge of arrangements.
